XII : Survival of the Fittest
-
War does not determine who is right – only who is left.
-
The massive group of ninja all turned to the source of the voice–
“Daiki!” Hiro exclaimed. “Where's the rest of the team?”
“Gone,” Daiki said gruffly. “We got ambushed by some freaky Tri-Angle guy in a mask – I'm the only one left.”
Behind Daiki, something moved. Everybody jumped, reaching for their weapons.
“Oh, sorry,” Daiki said. “Let me introduce you to some kids that helped me out after I got ambushed. Come out, Toshiko, Iwao.”
A girl and a boy slowly revealed themselves, walking out of the massive shadow that Daiki cast upon the ground. The girl, Toshiko, was short and dark-skinned, her long braided hair swaying in the nonexistent breeze. The boy, Iwao, was tall and stocky, hair cropped closely to his head.
“Toshiko is Iwao's apprentice,” Daiki explained. “They're what's left of the Mountain Village.”
“Mountain?” Kenji repeated. “I thought it was just a folk tale...”
“Nope,” Iwao said. “We're the real deal, and Daiki-sama is our new leader.”
Hiro raised a brow, and Daiki smiled grimly. “Yeah... Long story. I didn't want to be a Sand deserter either. But I've got information on Tri-Angle. This inter-village mess can wait.”
The Kazekage grinned. “Of course. Kill the bad guys first, duke it out later.”
“Yeah,” The Yamakage said briskly. “Anyway. Tri-Angle operatives seem to work in partners. A masked man attacked us alone; we're assuming his partner was somewhere very near, in hiding or something.”
“We know Taiyou Kuroi is part of Tri-Angle, and Ken is dead,” Kenji mused. “That's three members so far.”
“And assuming that if each of them had partners, that would make it 6 total members so far,” Xavier murmured.
“So we're basically going to hunt down six minus one? Five members?” Hihari asked.
“It won't be so much of a hassle,” Yukio said cheerily. “After all, we are seven villages total. Chasing after five people won't be so bad.”
“Fighting them will be a different story,” Takashi growled. “They're tough. One Tri-Angle member nearly took out me – the Mizukage – who was nearly at full capacity. We have to be careful.”
“Well...” Yukio inserted, “I want dibs on Ken's partner. He was the one that hunted down and nearly killed my people.”
“Nice,” Kenji grinned approvingly. “Revenge is the sweetest thing you can ever taste. I guess we'll get dibs on Taiyou Kuroi – she's one of our missingnin. But Yukio, can you take Mizuki with you?”
“What?!” Mizuki cried in protest. “Why?”
“You have too much bad blood between yourself and Taiyou Kuroi,” Kenji replied blandly. “Out of all of us, you're going to most likely be the one who loses all rational sense when you see her and you're going to jeopardize the success of our little hunt.”
“And I don't mind having you around,” Yukio grinned, patting Mizuki's shoulder good-naturedly. “It'll be easier for us, having a hunternin around.”
“I'll stick with Shadow – Taiyou Kuroi's partner will most likely be with her, so I'll focus on her partner,” Hihari said. “Haruka will accompany me only, so I won't weigh you down too much.” Katsumi and Itami made noises of protest, but Hihari silenced them with a dark look. “Glacier needs you guys here. You will stay and watch over the village.”
“We're going after that masked guy,” Daiki announced. “I'll happily avenge my team.”
“Sun'll go with Mountain,” Akio said. “We're both few in numbers, we can team up.”
“That leaves Sand with the last mystery member,” Hiro grinned. “This'll be fun.”
“You're leaving out Mist,” Takashi growled.
“No, we're not,” replied Kenji. “You've already taken down one member. Be useful and go back to Mist, start taking control of the Great Sea so Tri-Angle won't be able to take over the waters.”
Takashi glared at the Kurokage, but made a noncommittal grunt. “Tch. You all better not get killed, I still want my genins to kick your genins' asses in the Chuunin Exams.”
Hiro laughed. “I look forward to it.”

Keiko smiles serenely.
What she cannot see, others can see.
What she can see, others cannot see.

Eye-Catch! In the depths of the Glacier village, seven villages are united in one war cry, a war cry that echoes off the cold walls of the deepest sectors of the Glacier village.
They don't care about the truth at the moment.
They only care about surviving. About killing what needs to be killed off. About the war they are going to throw themselves in to.
And they know that they will have be the last ones standing.
-
-
“This war will be a revolutionary stepping stone to a new era.”
The other four stare at her with rapt attention, hungrily wanting more of what they cannot see.
She does not consider them comrades.
They are not comrades; they are merely five individuals working towards a common purpose.
And she is fine with this untrusting group of people, because she knows that even without trust and loyalty and honor, they will be the ones that will win.

“Welcome to war, ladies and gentlemen.”

GAAAAH.
I got so bad.
Ah well. Pretty decent for about ten minutes' worth of work. Damn, I should've timed myself.
So let me clear up who's going after who.

And poor old Mist is going to miss out on the action and instead are going to turn to the sea(s) and make sure the Tri-Angle won't be able to take over the sea to use it to kill our poor wittle neenjuhs.
Now that this huge-ass group is split up, let's see if it makes it any better. -__-
