Re: Do you have soft toilet paper?
It just seems dumb to me that we should squabble over the dumbest things. If cutting out the soft stuff means more trees to go towards more essential uses (construction, for instance. We need houses after all), then why not?
It's like people getting all upset of the trans fat ban. Heaven forbid we take away your right to trans fats.

That tree stuff, I don't think you really know what you're talking about. ^_^;;; That's not how trees and forestry really works, well, at all. So noffense, but, yeah....
And yes, it is important to fight for the small things. If you don't, you could lose an entire nation without even realizing it because you stopped fighting. Besides, who gives up just because they think its a small thing? I mean, that's not a winning perspective, now is it?
"Well, I'd fight for this or that right, but its too small."
Isn't that what's wrong with our generation? As a fellow outreaching Christian, you of all people should be fighting for the small things. Cause they make all the difference.

Well, if that's now how the forestry industry works (I always assumed cutting down trees and using them was a major component, but whatever), then explain it to me.

You assume cutting down trees, as in we have a finite amount of trees. In actuality, most papering industries have big tracts of land that they've already bought out, and they just grow the trees up, cut em down, grow em up again, cut em down. Repeat. Etc. So the idea that their trees will go to construction or something is kind of, wrong, since those same trees are bought and grown for the paper industry, so they will still be put into toilet paper. Get it? So regardless of whether those trees are cut down or not, they're still the paper industries trees to cut down if they want to. *I hope I explained that well*

Well, then, they would be able to make more toilet paper out of fewer trees, wouldn't they?
I do not see how Egypt had Israel's best interest in mind, but hey, whatever.
If you intend to turn the bible against my political point of view, you must realize it will not work. In fact, the bible is authoritarian itself in its nature. In the desert, the Israelites whined about not having an image of God -- and look what trouble it got them into. The theme of the old Testament is practically 'Isreal whined because' -- because they wanted things their way. They wanted FREEDOM to chose to do so-and-so.
Man, in his base nature, is evil and cannot govern himself. He needs someone to show him the way. In moral circumstances, this governing ought to be the bible, and in legal circumstances this governing ought to be the political body of the state.
Give unto Ceasar what is Ceasar's.

Not really. If they could make it out of fewer trees, I gurantee they are trying. Its more efficient and cheaper to. And businesses always want to cut expenses. Besides, who's the government to tell them what to do? Hm?
When was the last time a Government, well, ever had its people's best interest in mind?
The Bible is pretty much teh opposite of Authoritarian. The simple reasoning behind this? If God was authoritarian no one would go to Hell. No one would get a choice. We would all worship God in all his splendors and no choice would be required. Since God doesn't force that, obviously he enjoys people having freedom. Of course, if they choose to not worship God, as the Israelites did, then yes, they pay the consequences. But notice God always gave the Israelites the choice. He never said you shall do this and turned off their ability to make decisions making the Israelites drones and robots. He always let them choose. ^_^ Just like he still lets us choose.
Sure, give unto Ceaser's Ceasers. But the entire majority of people doesn't belong unto Ceaser. Duh. If you can name one verse in the Bible where it says God believes the Government, and not the people out of free will, should run people, then I shall back down. Just name something where God says, "Trust in the Government." Or, "Do not fight but let kings govern."
Something like that, would be nice. The Ceaser line doesn't count, as that is talking about taxes, and I don't feel like arguing 90 posts with you on how it doesn't count. Just one quick verse where Jesus says, "And give up your free will to a body of the political state." Really anything of this nature will do.

Re: Do you have soft toilet paper?
We obey God or we perish. And people choose to perish.
God gives us the ability to chose salvation or not because it gives him all the more glory when someone comes to salvation.
But what the hell does that have to do with everything else?
Nothing comes of it but human accomplishments, and these are but a dust that will pass away.
We fool ourselves thinking choices over any facet of our lives has any value in the long run.
The new testament christian church were all of like mind, after all. We too should all have the same mind.
God gave the Israelites kings, so obviously he has no trouble with despots.

And not a single verse. Don't feel bad, Amaterasu couldn't provide me with a verse in the same situation, either.
Also, if you'd check the Bible, you'd see that God didn't like having to choose a King for them. But the Israelites insisted on him giving them one.
All that other stuff is just garbbly goo, and serves no purpose in the conversation.
And if you missed the point about humanity's choice and what that has to do with God, really explaining it is not worth my time. It makes perfect sense, of that I can assure you.

Re: Do you have soft toilet paper?
I am not one to normally go about providing verses, as it is the message and not the words that matter, and you do me great insult by jabbing my poor memorization skills, sir. We are not all so gifted. But I will try.
" 1If you have any
encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his
love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and
compassion, 2then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. 3Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. 4Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others." (Philippians 2)
"Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established." (romans)
Concerning what that ruler will look like:
""The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and those who exercise authority over them call themselves Benefactors. 26But
you are not to be like that. Instead, the greatest among you should be
like the youngest, and the one who rules like the one who serves." (A ruler who does not makes claims to be a server, but ACTUALLY serves. Do some research into the concept of a Philospher King, you'll enjoy it.)
Thats all I can muster with just a couple keywords. Thank goodness for biblegateway, else those of slow memory might be scoffed at by other Christians.

Re: Do you have soft toilet paper?
Only one of those was of any interest. The other two in no way support the Government. That like minded crap has nothing to do with the Government. Get your head out of the Marxist alley.
The Romans one I find interesting, though I am getting a different interpretation out of it than you. I am very glad, however, I am not an authoritarian. I am also glad you live in Canada, for you shall hold no harm to my country with your insane perspective on life.
But the Romans one does hold some ground, though if you honestly think its the basis for authoritarianism, you've left me unconvinced. But at least you tried. And trying is good. You learn some from trying.
But honestly. Please under no conditions ever come to my country and give me that kind of awful dogma.

Re: Do you have soft toilet paper?
Evidently, I've wasted my breath.
I am of the lesser gender (women cannot participate in government), you are smarter than I, and I have many
a log in my eye, but please remember Q, we are each endowed with
certain knowledge from God, so instead of closing your ears to your
other listen, listen, take every meaning with a grain of salt. Because
we are all to be taught something, no matter our age or our
intelligence or gender.
Please, please don't ever close yourself to learning from others.
I only say this because it seems all our discussions end the same, with you presiding as the ultimate authority. Tell me: do you actually ever loose an argument?
