did itachi miss his chance to capture naruto?

he could of captured him rigt after he killed his clan but he didn't

Who said he joined the Akatsuki and then killed his clan? Who said he was even thinking about Naruto at the point when he killed his clan? I bet you 20 bucks he didn't give 3 cents about Naruto when he killed his clan.

When I first read this I wondered if you meant in the woods when he said you and I need to have a talk mister and I wondered because that really was his perfect oppurtunity I am not sure if he will ever have a shot as good as that one. But you mean after he decimated his clan and I say pshh Itachi didn't care.

it says in the manga that Orochimaru lost to Itachi 7 years ago(part one)...Itachi was 18 in part one making him 11 years old when he beat Orochiaru...Itachi beat Orochimaru while in the Akatsuki(he was wearing the cloak)...Itachi killed off his clan 4 years ago(part one)...so Itachi was 14 when he obtained the Mangekyo and killed off the Uchiha clan...so Itachi was in Akatsuki before he killed off the clan...when he was an ANBU he skipped missions to do another special mission that was confidential...they only started collecting the Jinchuriki in part one so...but he was gathering info when he killed off his clan...if you don't believe me..look up the info yourself...but Q-sama is right that he did miss his chance in the forest...*holds out hand*...that's 20 bucks Q-sama...

Haha wow...But one thing missing.

The Akatsuki is highly secret. Who says that he had his assignment yet? Afterall if he did he took more then a long time to get to it. More then likely he was handed out his assignment around the time when he came looking for Naruto. But we have no proof either way.

Still very convincing but from now on I suggest putting this in the first post that way those of us who didn't notice these particular tiny details can know what you mean. I notice lot's of details but I lost this one. Good job Renden. Still though your right he was in Akatsuki but we have no proof either way. Plus Itachi isn't stupid he knows he has the 9 tails in him so he would go after Naruto early so we can guess he didn't know his target yet and was helping the Akatsuki in other ways.

Afterall they were probably making that crazy Jinchurriki sucking machine. But Itachi is a guy with goals of his own we still can never really be sure if he even wants the Jinchurriki or cares squat about Akatsuki. Since, if he did, wouldn't he have taken Naruto then and there or as soon as he got back from his mission with the Sound 5.

I would be willing to bet another 20 bucks they didn't.

Afterall remember after shippuden they didn't start moving again because the Statue wasn't working right.

Thus it probably wasn't even built back then.

ahh and it might be that the sealing order has to be percise so that you can't just get 9 tails then 3 tails cause it would break the statue(i'm going against my first post no?)

i agree that they didn't have the statue...that's why he was instructed to gather information on Naruto...

what else could the "assignment" be???

It could have been gathering information on how to build the statue, gather information on Konoha, Gather information on stealing Jinchurriki, Gather Information on the weaknesses or the best place to have a hideout, killing his best friend and the Uchihas could have been his assignment.

And if his assignment was to gather information on Naruto then he probably wouldn't have killed his Clan because it's not very sneaky.
