Poems by James
The clouds pass
1. The clouds pass in a blue sky
Too white to be true
Before winter sets in
The tree are spending all their money
I lie in gold
Above a green valley
Gold falls on my chest
I am a rich man
2. Something told the wild geese
Something told the wild geese
It was time to go
Through the fields lay golden
Something whispered---"Snow"
Leaves were green and stirring
Berries luster glossed
But beneath warm feathers
Something whispered---"Frost"
All the sagging orchards
Steamed with amber spice
But each wild breast stiffened
At remebered ice
Something told the wild geese
It was time to fly
Summer sun was on their wings
Winter was in their cry
3. Fall
The geese flying south
In a row long V-shaped
Pulling in winter
4. Fire and Ice
Some say the world will end in fire
Some say in ice
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold on those who favor fire
But if it had to perish twice
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction of hate
Is also great
And would suffice
5. Autumn's Embrace
Autumn grasps the forest in her graceful arms
Dazzling the countryside with her colorful charms
Apples, red as rubies, plop loudly to the ground
Crickets chirp each night,a rather mournful sound
Once-Lusterous leaves of green change to blazing red
And float softly to the ground,a squirrels soft bed
Autumn's crisp breath soon surrounds the trees
Lulling animals to sleep with its chilly breeze
Imnense as the ages, replacing the sun
The moon is aware that its time has come
Autumn gently whisperes a sweet lullaby,
And with a sweep of her arms bid summer
Good-Bye
