I've been noticing the drop of the US dollar for a while now, and I've taken liberties to put my money in very, very safe places.

You couldn't sell gold because no one would have any currency to pay you with.

Oh, I get it.

So then I'd trade my gold for food and stuff, or something like that.

Either way, I'd be really well off. I have a huge garden (although I wonder where I'll get meat... maybe kill the chickens?) and I have solar panels, and a pretty damn large supply of lightbulbs and gears and what not. My house is pretty self sufficient. True, it cost me a fortune to get everythign in place, but I'm pretty self sufficient.

No one is going to trade gold with sufficient, self serving things like clothes and necessities.

The electricity would stop working because no one would operate it. To stop their kids from starving, parents would steal from your garden.

But it was a great vision!

I don't think so. The ones with money worked hard to get it (the ones with a lot, anyways, or they're really good gamblers or have some wicked luck) and so if you work hard, you should be able to have some sort of reward.

Use them until they run out. It will only last you so long.

Do you keep varieties of seeds? Bad crop seasons can be a problem too, mind that.
