This is a Bleach Fanflic I created some time a while ago in a couple sections. I have posted all of the sections here for your enjoyment. When critisizing it, please tell the truth and bs as harsh as you have to be, all for the better of making me a better writer. The main character, Kazeke, is made up and has no relation to the general Bleach storyline. However, events in this story actually took place in the show.

Prologue-
"Life is a confusing thing. What do you live for. What in your will keeps you alive. How should one live a good life. It is full of questions that should and shouldn't be answered. But death... Death is a mystery and an escape. Those who do not want to live, choose this simple path. But it is completely unknown: it drives people insane. I was not phased by death. I saw it as another route from living. I chose death. Which is why I stepped in front of the car..."

The Beginning of a Legacy
Part 1
"WAAAH!" I struggled and tripped as I ran away from the approaching monster everyone called "Hollow." It resembled a spider and a snake but was much more terrifying. I moved with the speed I did not possess so, of course, it caught up to me. I was crying now for, at that moment, I was of the meager age of 5. It that fateful moment, however, as it opened it's disgusting jaws to consume me, I saw a flash of light. The hollow's head rested on the ground next to me and disappeared in an instant. I was frozen and crying for a good amount of time until I felt a warm hand on my cheek. That reassuring feeling made me stop crying and even smile for a moment.
"It's okay young one. You are saved now." I looked up and I saw a beautiful woman in a black outfit smiling at me. I couldn't see her face but her smile was enough to warm my heart and make me forget all of my miseries. "You poor thing, let me help you." The woman placed the bottom of the sword on my forehead and I felt a felt a warm wind and a bright light appearing under me. As I sunk into the bright energy, I was not afraid. I trusted her, that beautiful woman, I believed that I was going to a better place.
Then I was completely in the enshrouding light. In an instant, I seemed to be flying through a pure sky. I closed my eyes and I wondered where I was. Memories flashed by me like a swirling tornado of life. I was born to a poor family. Mom and dad always got into fights. Dad was often drunk and mom always had a bad attitude. One day when I was 4, I was kicked. Both of my parents were furious and I can't remember the details, but I was out on the street the next day. I crawled the streets eating anything I could find, not caring about taste or if it was edible. I cried night and day and I was though as vermin that should die by passing by strangers. Not one soul, bothered to give me food, shelter or anything. I was nothing in these devil's eyes. I grew hopeless as days went by. And I grew hungrier and hungrier. Then I lost faith. I walked into the middle of the street at the age of 5 and collided with a car.
The next time I opened my eyes, I was a ghost. A few weeks later the woman saved me and there I was, riding that current, not knowing what was in store for me. I couple of seconds later, I landed on the dusty ground and looked about. I wandered about for so many days I could not recall, even later on, and soon I was a small boy with only pain in his eyes, just like when I was cast out. I lost trust in the woman and was convinced that life and death were hell and nothing more. I couldn't cry anymore, for my tears had dried out. I had no feelings whatsoever, only a distant gaze. I just wandered aimlessly on the dusty path, hoping for nothing except my existance vanishing. Then a hand reached out for me.
"It's okay young one, you are saved now." Instantly recognized the voice and words and looked up. There she was, the one who's smile kept me hopeful. I was unbelieving at first and then she hugged me. "Come with me to my house. You'll be safe there." And in that very moment, I cried, which I could not do for so long. She smiled and took my hand. I was going home.

Part 2
Ever since that day I was adopted, my studies of Soul Society increased rapidly. As the years passed, I came to finally know all there was to know. My caretaker, a shinigami named Hana, was roughly around the age of 25 and was absolutely wonderful. My horrors and experiences of pain were all gone, or so I hoped.
A while back, Hana entered me in these qualification tests to enter the Shinigami Academy. I didn't know what she thought of me but apparantly, according to her "observations", I had a great skill. So, like she wanted, I took the tests. They were brutal. I thought I would never come out alive to even see if I was accepted. On the first day of the tests, I and the other people were ordered to do menial tasks such as watering the garden, washing dishes, and helping old ones around town. Although, when I got back to my house way in the deep parts of a forest, I was as exhausted as if I was weight training with elephants. When I got to the house, I took as step in, Hana was there, eagerly awaiting for a synopsis on my day.
"Sooo, how did it go, Kazeke?" As I told her about the first day, her intense gazed sent me to the ground laughing. She started giggling and for a good amount of time, we laughed and laughed. Life seemed as good as it got. Hana and I, at the age of 10, lived in a little cottage in a giant forest outside of the protective gates. I've always asked why she didn't live inside the gated area but she always said,"I like it better out here." I was usually suspicious, but in a matter of seconds, I didn't care. Hana was constantly there for me and I was constantly there for her so it never seemed to be of great importance. I was completely content with my way of life.
Over the days, however, the Shinigami Academy tests seemed to intensify in difficulty. Especially for someone as young as I was. But no matter how many times I came home and wept over my injuries, Hana was there to comfort me. One day as I came home, feeling exceptionally excited to tell Hana about my day, I was greeted by, not her smiling face, but a cruel looking Shinigami. He turned to face me and yelled, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE!?!?" I was frightened out of my mind and ran as fast as I could inside the cottage. In there, was something that gave me nightmares from that night and on. Two Shinigami were holding Hana's arms behind her back and were escorting her out.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH MOM (As I often referred to her as.) !?!?"
"Get out of the way," said another Shinigami, who was wearing a white coat over his robe. I instantly recognized him. He was Byakuya Kuckichi. (SP?) I was frozen in fear as he brushed me aside and continued dragging Hana away. Before I she left my life for good, she smiled and said, "Goodbye, be a great Shinigami."
"NOOOOOO, MOM!" And she disappeared into the trees along with the other Shinigami. I was left alone there again. For the rest of the night, I cried.
I found a Shinigami the next day and asked about Hana. Apparently, shortly after she sent me to the Soul Society, Hana was accused of a horrible crime. The mass murdering of an entire squad, including the captain. She was put into a high- security prison in the central of Soul Society, but somehow, escaped to the little cottage, when she was put before the head of Shinigami that day, she was, at that instant, executed. I loathed those Shinigami and Byakuya, for taking her. I could not imagine how Hana, my nice and selfless caretaker, could of done that.
The days to come after that were lonely, but I did even more to become a Shinigami, as Hana's final wishes were. For food, I often resorted to stealing food and always got away with it. (I noticed that ever since the qualification tests began, I was gaining speed and strength.) Nonetheless, I survived the grueling tests and the horrible living conditions to make it to the 20th day of Shinigami testing. The day came where all of my hard work was going to pay off. Out of the hundreds of souls that registered, only a handful were being chosen. Everyone was called to the main building where the captains meetings took place and a steady stream of kido blasts were illuminating the sky with winning names so everyone could see.
10 minutes into the spectacle, I saw it, my name. "KAZEKE BASHIRU" was engraved in the sky. I did it, I was accepted, I celebrated all night. But unknown to me, that was just the beginning.

Part 3
So my Shinigami training had begun. The very first day in the academy was hell. I was looked down and scorned at from every level. Apparently, they were outraged at the fact that someone who was a simple commoner managed to get into this prestigious school. I, myself, didn't care much about it. I was used to it and the excitement of the fact that I was ACTUALLY in it the academy made the insults null and void. The tests and assignments ,however, I didn't do so well on. Especially the Shikai part. I had a terrible time trying to master my blade. I couldn't even contact my spirit when I was well into my 2nd year there. Even my KIDO was 3rd rate compared to everyone else's. My hopes were rapidly decreasing.
That all changed one day though. All of my comrades were burying their heads deep into a couple of textbooks on Shinigami history, when a couple of blasts were visible in the far distance. Everyone gathered close to the windows and the instructor said with obvious haste, "Everyone, don't panic, just keep studying." He then left the room in a flash to check on the disturbance.
Every one's gazed was fixed on the commotion. Some even started shaking as the explosions came closer and closer. "Scared?" laughed some kids behind me. "Aw, it's okay Kazeke, whatever it is, it won't want to eat you. Monster's don't like to eat wussies" They all started laughing, but again, I didn't care. Although, I did get a little nervous as the blasts reached behind the walls. The boys and girls behind me got a little frightened too, and I suppressed a giggle.
Suddenly, the explosions ceased. No one said a word and finally some one said, "Whew, glad that's ov..." She was interrupted when the building shook from a violent blast illuminated the bottom floors. All students in the room immediately started panicking. When the dust cleared the room, I got a good view on what the monster was It was a hollow. This one resembled a bear with huge wings and front claws. My suspicions were true, Hollows had invaded Soul Society and thins one was attacking the Academy.
I ran away as fast as my legs could handle but the hollow caught up and pinned my on the hard surface of the floor. At that moment, I remembered when a hollow attacked me when I was a regular spirit, but I knew this time, nobody was going to save me. I desperately tried to break loose from the deathly grip but It was of no avail. I was looking down the path of destruction.
"NOOO!" I struggled and struggled and closed my eyes tight and yelled, without any idea, "TSUBASA!!!" In that instant, found myself on the top of the ruins of a steel tower, surrounded by broken houses and buildings. A giant snake-like dragon of steel appeared before me. I fell back on my behind, staring unbelieving at the majestic creature flying before me. "Wh... Who... are y... you?" I stammered.
"I AM TSUBASA," it replied in a booming voice that echoed around the ruins. "I am your spirit, your blade of heaven's true form. THE STEEL BEAST OF LEGEND!"
"No way..." I said.
"It is true, young master. Call upon me again with your greatest intent. I am your loyal partner, you're Zanpaku-tou's true essence. I AM YOUR POWER. CALL MY NAME!"
I sucked in all of my courage and shouted words into the sky. "TSUBASA, SPREAD YOUR WINGS OF STEEL!" And a flash of light along with the screams of the hollow filled the room. When the light cleared, the hollow was gone and everyone stared at me. I looked at my zanpaku-to and smiled. The steel now formed a blade with electricity floating around it. Resembing a magnet, it had the powers of one.
"Tsubasa, huh? That's a nice name." And I fainted on the ground, surrounded by classmates in awe.
