Are we in the golden age of video gaming, is that age still to come, or has it already past?

Are the new consoles and games better than those of years now gone? Discuss!

    I don't really know...

I think the graphics always get better so the games themselves are also on the improve. But that's me.

Graphics have gotten better...for the most part
most games have been "upgraded" I guess, with the execption of Spyro (I love those games! the new verisons suck! T_T)
but still, yeah, games have improved a lot, I think ^^

I'm inclined to say the same thing Q.
Moreso, the idea that the quality of games has gone down seems nearly impossible, as many of the games we see today use the same gameplay elements as those in the days of NES. As well as benefiting from an improvement in the graphics and in most cases sound department.
And thats not even mentioning those innovative games which introduce entirely new elements to the game-pool.

My opinion is that people who feel that games have gotten worse, just can't play the new games for nights on in like they could the old ones so blame the games themselves, when really they are just older and more mature or have harder tastes. I myself play less games, then ever, but when I do play a new game I am always just blown away by how much more variety and overall excellence they have when I remember things like Duke Nukem, Half Life, and Age of Empires.

Was always a Computer man myself.

Graphics wont get much better? Now you see my good man that is narrow thinking. They thought back in the day that Quake and Castle Wolfenstein were going to be the highlights of graphics, and now look what has happened. And in ten years from now think what it will be, they will just continue to get even realer.

Yep, plus you can enhance your abilites on a Comp but once you get a console you can't keep it from getting obsolete.

Don't know, don't care. I don't play video games much anymore. Though I do want to get Okami for the Wii when it comes out. From what I have played, though, I find there are some good new games, some bad ones, and some good old games and some bad ones. Meh.

I've played all three of the Halo games, albeit briefly and the only one I enjoyed was number 3. As for the assertion that the only games coming out are first person shooters I point to games such as dead rising which is easily one of the most enjoyable games I've ever played. Crackdown is another non-first person shooter which though lacking in a brilliant story proved to be an incredible game. Cooking Mama, though strange in it's concept deftly applied a creative control scheme which made for some joyous time, and the newest Zelda has recieved the title of best game in the series from all those who I know who have also played the game.
