If you walk barefoot (outside) long enough, eventually the bottom of your feet will become more tough, allowing you to move better barefoot against rather annoying types of terrain. My aunt walks barefoot all the time, she can even run barefoot along rocks. Only time she wears shoes is for work, because it's more "professional."

Again, over time, your feet grow tough. Eventually, the heat on the street wouldn't bother you so much. I mean, there are people who walk on broken glass and won't even bleed.

Not sure if this is considered nerdy or not... But, my birthday is on Halloween, so every year, rather than the usual cake and party, we celebrate by roaming the streets. Me and a friend of mine would dress up as samurai, then meet up at X street and sword play (wooden swords) while wearing Oni masks. My parents then show up dressed up as a Shinto Priest/ess, and go through the ritual of an exorcism on us, where we then fall down. After a minute or so, we stand up, then start running through the streets scaring children.
