Can you explain the reasons for conflict between immigrants and native-born reformers in the late nineteenth century?
Was it just because the native-born people thought that the immigrants were stealing jobs from them?
Well, it wasn't really a thought, the immigrants were.
But yes, mostly jobs, plus they were moving in, setting up communities, not learning the American language, and refusing to assimilate (Where does that sound familiar?). Plus there was fear of worldwide revolution, the fact that many of those who moved were dirt poor peasants with Orthodox Religion, and they would go on strikes at times most unwell.
Thanks.
Darn, now I have nothing to do... >__>
No, more like the Irish and Albanian.
Yeah, Asians didn't really start pouring in till later. Chinese weren't even allowed.
-taking a random guess that's probably wrong-
I think that was it.
Although its not actually a big of a deal as people make it out to be because America was 1/3 chinese when we made that act because we had brought over SO many Chinese to work the railroads *My history could be sketchy here*
Sarcasm?
And here I thought you were being humble.
I was being humble. I meant, were you being sarcastic?
Why would I say that you're not a history genius when you are?
