- Why
do you like watching fights at school? How do you react when you see a
fight begin? What sorts of characteristics are common to the fighters? - If
you have been in a fight, who did you fight with? Why? Where did the fight
take place? What was going on in your head before, during, and after the
fight? What sparked the fight (seeing that person in the hall, a nasty
word, etc)? - Were
you ever arrested/interviewed by the police or other authorities after
watching/participating in a fight? - How
are fights generally conducted? Are there traditions in your school
concerning fights? - Are
alcohol/drugs ever/usually a factor in fights? - If
you drink, how often do you go out drinking? What kinds of people do you
find do the most drinking at your school (popular kids, kids who do drugs,
etc)? - What
sort of experiences do you have under the influence of alcohol? - How
does alcohol influence your way of thinking? Are there any things you do
under the influence that you would normally never do? - Have
you ever driven under the influence? - Has
someone in you school ever been injured/killed in a drug related incident?
Was an assembly given at the time? If so, what was discussed? What was the
general mood of the school after this injury/death? - Do
students from your school ever have rivalries with other schools that
result in fights? What causes these rivalries? How do these fights
generally play out? - What
do you think constitutes a ‘male’ image? What sorts of behaviors are
received by men as being ‘manly’? What sorts of behaviors are considered
‘unmanly’? - What
role does the use of terms that deal with sexuality when it comes to
bullying/fights among males? Are these terms often used in a joking sense,
or are they a real assault on a person’s self-esteem? How are males who
are labeled as characteristically ‘gay’ (even if they are completely
straight) treated by other males? - Do
you think that it is true that the reason males are more prone to violence
and rage is due to testosterone, or do you think there is some cultural
influence at work. - Any
general comments about the experiences of males, experiences with alcohol
or fights, or anything related in general to this survey?
