in my esteemed opinion, a person should at least know how to perform the basic maintenance chores in order to own a car.

it may not make you a better driver, but it does make you appreciate the car a little more.

The worst driver and the one who crashes his car the most in my neighborhood, is a mechanic.

If it means I don't know much about cars but drive alright, then I am cool with that. And I know my example only works for me, but that's all I care about as well ^_~
