The Byakugan can see the enemy`s Chakra,see trough object,perfect for scouts and someone cabable of damaging the enemy`s Chakra.
The Sharingan on the other hand,can copy enemy`s jutsu,see trough the enemy moves,has multible levels and (like when Itachi uses it on Kakash for exable) cabable of tarrfying genjusu,perfect for battle.
in other words,each on of those could do great if used in the right place.
