When it was first used, the strategies were actually quite successful for a short amount of time, however, as the members became less and less active, it stopped completely. Now, on to describing the basic features of this style of Advertising.
Basic Overveiw
Okay, the following passage is a summary of what happens when I assign a ESTF Mission. The first step in this important mission is to gather striking points. I need everyone to go out and look for sites. These are the three kinds of sites I accept.
1.Dying Naruto RPGs
They are not very active and you can tell it's going to die. They have a good amount of members so there are a lot of people bound to check up on the site every now and then.
2.Thriving Naruto SITE (Not RPG)
They have a shit-load of members so you know a lot of members are going to be on at all times. Every nook an' cranny of the place will be checked by many members.
3.Thriving Anime Site
Like Anime Network, any general anime sites where a good amount of members gather. Not exactly as much as the Naruto Sites required but still a good amount of people.
I will add any sites I approve of greatly in the Bingo Book thread. (Site Links that go here are open for advertising to all.)
The next step is to create the mission. Once I find a good site that I think requires team effort, I will create a mission in the Advertising Agency. I will cover absolutely everything in the Mission Briefing before each mission. It will cover strategies you can use in that particular site. This way, we can get the most use out of advertising there for the sake of Way of the Ninja.
The third step is when the members of the ESFT come in. You guys are required to go to that site, register, (It is recommended you create another e-mail for this occasion and do NOT use your WOTN usernames at all in the proccess of registration for advertising.) and use tactics described in the mission briefing. When either we call you back from the mission or you get banned from the site, the organized advertising is over. (The mission itself may last from a day to a week depending on the size.)
That is basically the roles of the ESTF in a nutshell. Read on for more info on Advertising Styles etc.
The only thing I can't stress enough when doing these things is ALWAYS PAY ATTENTION TO THE MISSION BRIEFING!!! It will help you in innumerable ways and clear a whole lot of confusion.
Advertising Types
Sly Advertising-
A moderator back at CR gave this style of advertising it's name. Basically, what it is, is in normal threads, slightly mentioning the site address while posting something on topic at the same time. You need to post however so the post won't be deleted. This style works great with the second one in dying forums, but fails miserably in larger ones. Use with caution and sparingly; you don't want to get banned really early on.
Instant Populated Advertising-
I prefer this technique much more, but it only works on sites that have signatures enabled. In this one, you change your signature to the ONLY thing that you are advertising. For example, I changed everything on my signature to stuff about Anime Attack. (Words AND Pictures) Then, you populate the forums with posts that WON'T be deleted. In other words, on topic posts. Hopefully, your signature will be seen by many and they will use the link.
Suicide Siting/ Advertising-
I knew of this techniques but Q gave it it's kick-ass name. This goes side-long with Suicide Bombers. When, on the designated site, you know you are about to get banned, (Like you got a warning when you did something normal.) or when the mission is declared over, you post a frienzy of links to WOTN on places with a lot of traffic at a time when there are not many mods on. You just trash the place with links and then return home after a good jobs work.
Super Sand Special
We all know that this is an attempt to get more members to WOTN from various sites across the World Wide Web. Remember, that the Village Hidden in the Sand is currently the ONLY village doing this campaign. (Mostly because Q and I are orchestrating it.) In addition to advertising WOTN, it would be advised you also flash the Village Hidden in the Sand. This way members will also be directed here. However, the name of WOTN exceeds that of Sand. WOTN is more important, keep that in mind.
Possible and Probable Rewards
I'm not going to gaurantee anything but I'm going to try to put up a system in which you guys get stats for doing this. Nothing's certain yet for I still have to talk with the Kazekage so wait for updates here.
You guys are the future of the Village Hidden in the Sand and ultimately WOTN. Are you going to let them die? I think not! Are you going to let them shrivel and suffer? I think not. WOTN is in your hands, in the hands of Suna, and IT SHALL PROSPER.
