Back in Meadivial times... when people were convicted of a crime there would be one of three trials.
1. Trial by water: This is where people would be thrown into the water/lake and if they floated they were guilty. If they sank, they were innocent but most people if they sank.......drowned.

2. Trial by fire: One would take a hot iron into the hand and the bandage it in cloth...a few days later they would take the bandages off and if it was infected... you were guilty.

3. Trial by combat: The accused would fight with one of the best knights and they believed that God would bless the accused if they were innocent and then the accused would win.
