Complaint (Received Spam)

To The Management of Way of the Ninja:

I am sorry to inform that one of your members, and possibly one of your staff members, recently joined my Naruto Forum and started to spam all members online with PM Advertisements containing the following:

you look like your bored, how can i tell, cuz im a top trained ninja
over at wayoftheninja.org.............over there we have missions,
villages, stats battle arenas, everything you ever need for naruto over
there go check it out...i can guarentee you...you will never want to
leave one you jopin and get started, our chuunin and jounin exams are
coming up soon,,PLz stop by

S/He was going by the name of "NinjaStealer", and has been permanently banned and has had his/her IP submitted to an online blacklist program for spammers.

I am not sure if this action was endorsed by "Way of the Ninja", if it was carried out by a staff member, or if it was merely a member trying to advertise your website in the wrong manner, which clearly violated our Terms of Service and our "Code".

Either way, I wanted to bring this to the attention of any management on "Way of the Ninja" in order to warn or stop this from occurring again, because Spamming people generally gives a bad reputation to your forum.

Thank you for the mention, sir. We will be sure to do our best on finding "Ninjastealer" who we can assure you is an alias of some kind and put in the proper measures.

this is quite the bothersome thing these days, your not the first person from this site to come here and tell us, well we will try to find the person and tlk to them but i assure you, we dont have our management do that to other sites, with all due respect

It doesn't really matter. Since there has been two complaints, and this is the kindest complaint I've ever seen, I think whoever is taking members from Naruto RP needs to quit. The effort is admired in helping WOTN, but if you feel the need try another locale.

By the way, what does a bad website reputation mean?

At least he didn't tell us we fail...

And I did not mean to accuse your management, but many times Forum Owners, in an effort to spread the word about their forum, like to spam for some quick members.

Thanks for your understanding, just wanted to bring this to your attention because if he/she keeps doing it on forums all around the place the reputation of the forum can decrease a good amount. And by that I mean people will be drawn AWAY from joining a site that they found via someone spamming, rather than advertising in an advertising section. In addition, I do not see why the spammer did not just go into our "Advertise Here" section and follow the guidelines.

Also, off the books, you might want to start looking for people with notoriously bad spelling and grammar, because it was horrid. xD

Well no offense and all, but I would've gone to your site and made a thread to advertise WotN... just with decent grammar and stuff.

Yeah, I think the smart people would know that typing like an amateur wouldn't really attract a lot of people. Too bad they can't get off their lazy butts to recruit.

Do you by any chance have the IP you banned? It'd be easier that way to find your NinjaStealer.

Death, any simple minded person can change their IP it's like three easy steps, so that wouldn't really help us.

No, you can use something called a "Proxy" which dynamically hides your IP each time you view a webpage, and replaces it with a random proxy interval like:

11.11.11.11

I have their IP and Email Address, but I doubt either is correct information. Also, I do not need you to ban this person or even specifically find them. I just wanted to warn you guys for your benefit, so other boards that he/she might PM Spam will not get a bad impression of WotN.

Will do. Also, just google "proxy" and you'll get loads of websites that do it for you. You just put in the URL you want and it brings you there on a random IP. This works really well to "unblock" websites your school has blocked. ;D
