Tundra turned to me, puzzled. “So just who are you?” he asked.
I debated on what to do; would it be alright to tell him? Or would it be better to lie?
“I’m…”I made a snap decision. “I’m Spark.”
Tundra’s fist suddenly collided with my face. Not expecting the attack, I flew into a nearby wall, landing on my butt. Tundra came to me, bent down, and grabbed the front of my shirt.
“I don’t know how you knew about Spark,” he hissed, “but if you say another word, I will—”
He suddenly stopped in mid death threat.
I soon figured out why. The blow loosened the bandages, and now they hung from the side of my head, exposing my face.
I must admit, seeing his face go from pure rage to pure shock was pretty funny. He let go of my shirt and backed away from me, eyes wide. He hit the wall opposite me, he eyes never leaving my face.
“B-but h-how?” he stuttered. “I…I saw you…we saw you…”
I picked myself up off the ground, but didn’t approach him.
“I know what it looked like,” I said slowly. “But I didn’t…die. I left, to train.”
“And it took you five years to come back?” Tundra fired at me.
He put his head in his hands, and slid down to the floor shakily.
He sat like that for a long time. “So now you’re back, still a Genin, without a team for the exams,” he said flatly, his voice muffled.
I breathed out in relief. “Yup. But I can take ‘em alone.”
Tundra finally looked up at me and smiled weakly. “Cocky as always, eh?”
Slowly, he stood up, came over, and grabbed me by the shoulder. “Good to have you back, mate.”
I smiled. “So,” he continued, “I could just make you Chunin now, for saving the head of the ANBU,” he pause, and grinned crookedly, “And my wife. ”
Well, that shocked me. But before I could say anything, the roof caved in. In seconds, we were surrounded by ice-nin.
Tundra looked at me and winked. “Time to earn your title!”
I picked up Gust and whisked her to a safe, concealed corner of the building.
“Hibana Toku!” (Spark Shield)
With the kids safe, Tundra and I prepared for attack.
