Okay, so many of you are probably wondering, "What's new in the world of Anime and Manga?"
See, I know how you guys are. Many of you are probably tiring of the Big 3. You never gave One Piece a chance, so you don't know that it's phenomenal. (Insert cliche excuses here: It's long! It's got bad art in the beginning! I don't have time!)
And many of us can all agree Naruto is not the Naruto we used to know and, well tolerate. Neji hasn't done anything in 50000 chapters, nor has Shino, or any other good side character. The author of Naruto has just kind of lost it.
And Bleach isn't as fun as it used to be. We're not seeing Ichigo Versus Grimmjaw Awesome anymore. It's gone down the path of fillers and lame. This battle in Karakura town has been going on for two and a half years now. I think we're all getting a bit tired.
So maybe you're thinking, "I don't know man, Anime isn't as great as it used to be, I can't think of any good shows and stuff."
WRONG.
You're just not watching the new good shows.
But don't worry, that's why Q is here.
So I will tell you the good new series that you need to read and watch if you want to be in the know about the best new stuff.
We'll start off with two obvious ones: Code Geass and Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood.
Code Geass: It's the new Deathnote in awesome. It's got amazing battles. It's really a perfect series. And it's the only Mecha Anime I ever tolerated. It's beautifully drawn, aciton packed, and full of extremely intense intelligent battles. And the Ost is beyond words amazing. If you aren't on this series, which is 2 years old or so, then you really need to. Also, it's supported by Pizza Hut, which is where I work. See, I work at an awesome place.
Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood: It starts off a bit slow, but once it starts to get rolling it's genius. The Ost isn't as good as the original Ost (Though it's still great), but that is the only part that lacks. Everything else is way better than the original. The fights, the characters, the story. Everything is much better. And since the legend that is Full Metal Alchemist, one of the biggest Animes and Mangas of all time, is going to be ending, you should watch it while it's still hot. I could spend a lot of time praising it, but any of you who have seen my avatars know how great it is artwise and battlewise. One thing I will say that really sets it out is the lack of fillering. Most episodes in Anime come with a bunch of flashbacks and fillers that are mandatory, especially of a series as big and famous as Full Metal Alchemist. But not FMA Brotherhood. The series is lightning quick, and you almost have to hang on with how fast it flashes through the story.
Now, these two are obvious and I had to get through because sadly, despite how good these two are, most of you haven't seen them. Now for some newer series that aren't about to end or already over.
1. Durarara - Strange name, but that's the only weird part. DRRR is beastly. It has a huge cast of characters, from the amazing and angry Shizuo, the calm and loveable Simon, the conniving Izaya, and the mysterious Celty, as well as our mandatory school age protagonists, this series sucks you in fast. It starts out on a quick and eerie pace and pulls you in with an unbelievable storyline and ingenius characters that really make you wonder. The story is about gangsters, too (WOTNopolis copyrighter!) But it's really good. It's highly suggested. And the art and Ost are bar none, amazing. Even the opener and ending themes, which I usually ignore, are hard to beat. There's really nothing to complain about with this series, and I find myself excited every week for the next episode in this fantastic story. Really, the only way to show how awesome it is just to tell you to watch it. (Watch 2 episodes of this and you'll be hooked. That's all it took for me.)
Durarara is amazing because of the way it combines life in an insane city with real modern life, including the heavy use of chatting between main characters in a fairly cool way. Watch it!
2. Fairy Tail - This storyline is the complete opposite of DRRR. Where DRRR is serious, mysterious, and complex, Fairy Tail is simple, straightforward, and light. And that is exactly what makes Fairy Tail so great. Fairy Tail is not something that will make you challenge your thoughts on life, and it won't make you think much. The storylines are hardly deep and life altering. But the Anime (The manga less so) overflows with a heroic energy that makes you cheer for Fairy Tail till the end. The story has tons of excitement and it's almost impossible not to love all the quirky and hilarious characters. In many ways, the series is similar to One Piece. Artistically, it has many people commenting on it's One Piece similarities. It's fantastical wild setting, too. But what it has most in common with One Piece, that I like, is that even in the middle of battle you'll find yourself laughing at the characters, then cheering for them when they win. If you're looking for something to pick you up when you're down and something to give you tons of energy and excitement, Fairy Tail is what you want to watch. Note: The Anime is better than the Manga, in my opinion. Watch the first 30 episodes of the Anime that they have done, then start reading the Manga. Don't read a few chapters of the Manga then say it's no good. Also, give it a few episodes, because the first couple are funny but slow (Much like OP)
This one isn't a teaser, just a taste of some of the music. I find it impossible not to love that music. ^_^
3. Bakuman - This series is a manga, about Mangas. It's going to be made into an Anime, soon, though. This series isn't a fighter like the others, and is technically a love story. But you wouldn't notice it. From a guy who isn't much into Romance, I can tell you this series is great. The story illuminates tons of things you didn't know about being a Mangaka or making Animes, while being intense and fun the whole way. There's a certain lively energy in the series that is hard to define. And the author is the master of Cliff hangers, literally constantly leaving you in a state of suspense waiting for the next chapter. The author is also the same as the one who wrote Deathnote, so you know the art and style is going to be great. I started this one a while back, and have been reading it now for 40 chapters (weekly basis) and I can say I am very glad I got into it. It's a great series and lot's of fun. It's not a fighter, but the drama is very real and very intense at times. The main characters are always on the ropes, and the storyline, though it takes a while to get into, really starts to build it's own style of momentum. It's different, but it's certainly going to be a great series of it's own standing.
4. Psyren - If Fairy Tail is known for being like One Piece, then Psyren is known for being like Bleach. It's art and stories do have many similarities, but in my humble opinion, Psyren stands a shot at beating Bleach. Where bleach gets stuck in battles that last forever and slow storylining, Psyren rips through the pages and creates fast paced awesome battles. Psyren also does something that is really unusual. Most stories start out bright and happy and start to head sad (Bleach, One Piece, Naruto, Deathnote) this one goes the opposite route. It starts out very dark and is heading towards a heroic happiness. It's very unusual and very cool. It has no plans for being an Anime, sadly, but the Manga is great on it's own. Don't just take my word for it, take it from Yoyo who pretty much read the whole series in two nights. What originally got me to read the series was that a character in it was called: Nemesis Q (interestingly there is a later character called Yoyo). The series is intense and very cool. I think it stands a shot, especially if the Anime is ever made and it's good, at being very big. The storyline is intricate and interesting, involving a bit of time travel (not confusing) and a mystery of how the world ends.
And that's that. These are the big new series that I've seen. If you know of some other new series that are really good, post em below and I'll check em out. I always love something new that's good. ^_^
Anyway, I put this up because I know a lot of people feel that there isn't a lot new coming out, and a lot of you are probably drifting away from Anime and Manga. Let's face it, the big 3 are ending their reign as superior (One Piece is the only one that won out) and without broadcasts like Toonami it's hard to figure out what is going to fill the gaps.
So that is why I posted this. For you guys to know what the next big series are. And these 6 (especially the last 4, which are newer) are definitely going to be awesome and legend (wait for it, and I hope you're not lactose because it ends with) dary! [How I met your mother quote :P ]
Also: The last two didn't get videos cause they're not Animes, yet. But Bakuman will be soon. ^_^ And I would be surprised if Psyren takes more than a year to get it's own.

That's not overly-freaky and/or getting boring! :D And I have yet to actually watch Code Geass :O But maybe I should because KetsuKage is going on about it all the time (that an D. Gray Man), and if you're comparing it to Death Note... I've been looking for an anime that's got the same sort of appeal :Dquater wrote:See! I knew you'd appreciate my blog! ^_^
I was reading something about Code Geass.

Exactly why I made this manga! I knew you guys needed to hear about some fresh awesome series! And being the Q that I am, I help!
Durarara and Code Geass you would really like. ^_^ Trust me! Code Geass is very much like Deathnote in the way that it's intelligent.
Yay! :D Very cool. Yeah I'm gonna look into them for sure this summer :D Clever things for the win.quater wrote:PeinQAkatsuki wrote:I really do! :D It's like, anime! Hmm... I feel liek I suggested a couple of those to you....
I just recently started watching Dance in the vampire bund, and katanagatari.
Katanagatari has interesting artwork, and characters that seem like they will be fun to follow through the story.
I'm undeceided about the other one - I've only seen a couple episodes. I started reading the manga, and decided I liked it but then when I went to watch the anime it was pretty different. I think it's one that will either turn out really amazing or really crappy - not anywhere in between.

hm, that reminds me that i need to catch up on one piece xD;;
^ Why does really crappy remind you of One Piece? >_>
You suggested Durarara, and so did Amaterasu. But that was the only one, I think. Fairy Tail was mix suggested to Yoyo (Technically I had suggested it to her first but that's confusin AIM talk)

No, that was for Durarara. I watched Code Geass waaaaaay back in January during One Piece's 3 week hiatus and I told you to watch it on AIM.
Hmmm, if you say so.
